From Darkness to Light

I came to hear your story
One filled with sorrow, grief and loss.
I can’t understand how it happened,
But it shows what hatred and fear will cause.
There was profound sadness in your face,
And tremendous suffering in your eyes.
Betrayed by those around you
Caused a part of you to die.
Yet from a place of darkness
You chose to seek the light
By reaching out to others
Your hope conquered the dark night.
